cheap nike run-LEGION: Belleville bounces back with 9-2 win over Troy

BELLEVILLE • After playing five games over three days in brutal heat, it would have been understable if theCheap Nike Free Belleville American Legion team came out a step slow for Tuesday's home game against Troy. But the Hilgards again showed why they are one of the best teams in District 22, rolling to a 9-2 victory at Whitey Herzog Field and boosting their record to 31-9. Belleville went 4-0 to win its pool at last weekend's Firecracker Classic before losing 4-2 to Jefferson City in a semifinal Monday afternoon. "It was a real long weekend with the hot weather, but the guys stayed strong," Belleville catcher Ryan Rist said. "The tournament didn't end like we wanted, but the season is going real well, and we're looking forward to the playoffs." Troy (5-7) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Austin Schmidt got a two-run double down the left field and advanced to third when the throw from left fielder Sam Lidisky sailed past the bag. Jared Crutcher followed with an RBI single up the middle. In the bottom of the second, Belleville answered with four runs of its own off Troy starter Dalton Johnson. Rist drew a leadoff walk, Caleb Tatum was hit by a pitch and a bunt single by Lidisky loaded the bases. Rist scored on a single to left field by Atlee Champion, and a walk to Adam Bauer forced in Tatum. Austin Bevenue Nike Free 3.0 got an RBI double to right field, and a sacrifice fly by Cameron Lofton made the score 4-1. "The first inning we didn't have very good swings, but the second inning we got a couple walks, and we had guys get some good swings," Belleville manager Zach Rakowski said. "We were able to string some hits together and score some runs." The top of the third inning for Troy started with the defensive play of the game, a diving catch in left field by Lidisky on a foul ball by AJ Wise. But the next five batters reached base against Belleville starter Aaron Meyer. Dalton Johnson got a single off the glove of second baseman Alex Heitzman, and Dylan Johnson drew a walk. Dalton Johnson was picked off second base, but his brother moved to second on the play and scored on a single to left field by Andrew Range. A walk to JT Barras and a single to right field by Brendan Boyer loaded the bases. But Meyer escaped further damage and preserved a 4-2 Hilgards lead by retiring Schmidt on a fly ball to left field. "We seemed a little flat out of the gate, and I think we were tired," Rakowski said. "When we scored the four runs and they came back and scored again, I think it got us going a little bit. It let us know there was somebody here competing with us, and we got after it." "Baseball is all about taking advantage of those key opportunities," Troy manager James Denton said. "They had the bases loaded with less than two outs early, and they got a few key hits, which is huge. Hats off to them for capitalizing on those opportunities, and also hats off to them for minimizing the big inning." The Hilgards added two more runs in the fourth. Lofton got a one-out double to left field and scored when right fieldercheap nike free shoes Zach Caperton couldn't catch a fly ball by Jason Klein. A wild pitch brought in Klein, and Belleville led 6-2. Belleville closed out the scoring with three more runs in the fifth. Champion was hit by a pitch, moved to second base and went to third on a ground out by Bauer. Bevunue was hit by a pitch and Lofton walked, loading the bases. An RBI single to right field by Heitzman made the score 7-2. That was all for Dalton Johnson, who walked five batters and hit three in 4 1/3 innings while allowing nine runs on seven hits. Wise took over the pitching duties and gave up a two-run single to Klein that bounced off the glove of first baseman Dylan Johnson and down the left field line. After allowing four walks in the first three innings, Meyer pitched six innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on six hits. Bryce Richter pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the Hilgards. "Aaron was kind of fighting it early, but he got stronger as the game went on," Rakowski said. Belleville got eight hits from eight different players, with everyone in the Hilgards' lineup reaching base at least once. "From one through nine, plus the guys on the bench, everybody is chipping in and everybody gets hits," Rist said. "That nike free shoes really helps us compete and be a good team." Troy doesn't have the depth of some of its district rivals, but the team has been competitive. "It's tough to get up for a baseball game when you have only nine guys show up, but I compliment my Nike Free Running Shoes players on their ability to come out and play hard," Denton said.
